The vegan alternative to fried chicken!
INGREDIENTS:
- Oyster Mushrooms
- Flour
- Spices: Paprika, Turmeric, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder & Cayenne Pepper.
- Salt & Pepper
- Oil (for frying)
- + Sauces to dip (anything from: BBQ Sauce, Sriracha, Ketchup or Honey Mustard)
HOW TO PREPARE:
- Clean Mushrooms, wipe with a damp paper towel to remove any dirt.
- Prepare the spice mix. Add Flour, all the spices, Pepper & Salt in to a large bowl. (Mix together until well combined).
- Prepare the batter. Grab another large bowl, take 1/2 cup of flour from the mixture and add with 3/4 cups of water. Whisk until you reach a smooth batter consistency.
- Coat the Oyster mushrooms in the wet batter first and then dip and coat thoroughly in the dry batter. Repeat this twice with the mushroom (double coating).
- Heat your oil over high heat and drop your mushrooms into the oil (carefully) one at a time. Ensure you don’t overcrowd the pot with multiple at once. Let the Mushrooms sit and fry in the oil until they are nice and golden brown.
- Once they are golden, remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil. Then place it on a cooling rack to keep it crispy as you continue frying.
